Great question Maria.

No, we are operating under Fitch's professional indemnity and ICO licence.

Confirmed with Tammy.

Skills Scan / Re: skills scan
« Last post by SamuelMayes on August 21, 2019, 05:13:39 am »
Hi Edward,

The skills scan is normally completed before the apprentice is enrolled on the programme.

The skills scan analyses all KSBs and whether they can be naturally achieved in their current job. The skills scan will highlight KSB gaps the learner has in their current job.

Where there is no gap in a KSB (i.e. the learner can complete all the KSBs) there is no further action required.

Where there is a KSB gap (i.e. the learner cannot complete a KSB naturally in their job role) then this is escalated to Fitch so that the client can consider how they enable the learner to meet the KSB. Normally, this would be achieved by job shadowing or the like.

In answer to your question, no. This is not workplace evidence and wouldn't meet a KSB.

Helpful?

Personal Development Plan (PDP) / Re: PDP Objective
« Last post by SamuelMayes on August 21, 2019, 05:06:50 am »
Hi Mark,

This can be an and / or scenario.

A learner may not have a skills scan gap so it would focus on career advice and the like.

Where a learner has a skills scan gap, this could be also be included in the PDP - provided the learner sees that as a personal development activity.

I hope that makes sense.

Reflective Statements / Re: Example reflective statement
« Last post by Maria Spiteri on August 21, 2019, 03:39:19 am »
Hi

Thanks for posting this Sam, it's very interesting to see this. I agree with Nick - I have been telling my learners to embed evidence within the same document. The reference to the learning objectives seem very simple here, whereas I've been telling my learners that they need to explain the link to the learning objectives and to map this in greater detail. It would be good to know if this is definitely distinction level as it would be good to tell them to aim to create something like this as I'm sure they would be receptive to this. Please can you find out whether this also had additional evidence (emails, documents etc) and also witness statements, or whether this stand alone document is sufficient.

For the statement "This is one of my 5 Reflective Statements which make up my Junior Management Consultancy apprenticeship portfolio." do you know whether they have written a similar introduction in each of the 5 Reflective Statements or whether just having it in one Reflective Statement is sufficient and then introducing the area they want to cover in the other statements?

Also I thought they had to introduce which LOs they are covering in the introduction and then explain it in further detail, whereas here the LOs are only mentioned once.

Can we send this to the learners, and I don't supppose they have a few other samples that we can see too (from Finance/Banking), to give to the learners so we can see a few different styles?

Regards

Maria

Reflective Statements / Re: Example reflective statement

I have been telling the learners to do something very much along these lines.   But have been stressing to include evidence ie.  screenshots of work, emails pasted in.   Had been told previously that this type of general descriptive work not enough, that the evidence was key.   Have shared with them as comes from assessor, not knowing what to aim for has been a problem and this is very helpful.  But am a little concerned its not a consistent message.

Reflective Statements / Re: A few questions on Reflective Statements

Hi Maria,

DSW: "Regarding using one reflective statement, we do not specify a particular number of reflective statements, but it is important that the Learning Outcomes of the Standard are met in full."

What questions do you have?

Hi all,

https://www.dropbox.com/home/Fitch%20Learning%20Documents/DSW%20Toolkits/General%20Reflective%20Statement

An example reflective statement from DSW.

They’ve not told me what grade – but I anticipate a bank of these would be at distinction grade. Certainly the distinction awards I have given are of similar standing.

Feel free to share...!

What questions do you have?

Witness statements / Detail Required in a Witness Statement
« Last post by Maria Spiteri on August 20, 2019, 01:56:04 pm »
Hi

I have a learner whose line manager is leaving the company within a couple of weeks. The learner has written a detailed evidence document with a few quotes in the document from his line manager. I suggested that he ask his line manager to complete a witness statement before he leaves so that he has this on record now. How much detail is required in the witness statement or is it just sufficient for the manager to say he agrees with the content of the evidence? I checked the Level 4 toolkit and it doesn't say what's specifically required in the Witness Statement.

Thanks
