Hi all,

We continue to grow and expand.

Particularly keen to recruit excellent people just like you in Manchester and Bristol.

Can you think of anybody in these locations? Send me an email if so.

Hi all,

I'll make this as simple as possible so we can apply this consistently.

The only full name we should see is the learner's.

The only company name we should see is the learner's company.

What questions do you have?

Hi all,

A bit of a quirk...

If a learner loads evidence from the icon on their home screen when asked to map, the option of 3 mapping criteria are initially shown. This is no good for learners who have more than three objectives to map.

To get round this, the learner can load files through the messenger option, when prompted to map all the K/S/B criteria are displayed.

Reflective Statements / Re: Example reflective statement
« Last post by SamuelMayes on August 21, 2019, 06:14:34 am »
Hi all,

Reply from DSW.

I have told them that although little benefit to them it would be enormously helpful to us and our learners!

As they're not providing other examples, once we have learners go through EPA we can build a bank of fail, pass and distinction.

What questions do you have?

Sam

"Hi Sam,

Thanks for your email.

That’s the only resource we are able to provide regarding reflective statement examples.

We cannot offer multiple reflective statement examples and we cannot specify it to particular standards or industries, as we work across so many. It would take so much time, for little benefit when the one we’ve provided demonstrates what we would expect to see and gives guidance on referencing.

If you feel you need more guidance, you will have opportunity to submit a reflective statement as part of the interim reviews.

I have received your email about setting up a pre-gateway interim review. When we can schedule that in, we’ll look to answer queries re reflective statements then."

Reflective Statements / Re: Example reflective statement
« Last post by SamuelMayes on August 21, 2019, 05:32:38 am »
Hi Nick, Maria,

The message is still the same. Any evidence needs some reflective statement to demonstrate why the evidence is meeting the objective.

This example reflective statement would of had evidence to support the reflective statement. The aim of this reflective statement example is to provide what good could look like. The "5 reflective statements" bit looks like this has been prepared in gateway. This will be unknown as they are progressing through the programme.

It's a generic document that has no doubt been forwarded to other providers. Indeed, it would have been good if this example had been written on their own reflective statement template! Feel free to share with your learners.

I will continue to get my learners to introduce the LO and link to the evidence - because that's the way i like it to be done. Tailor your advice as needs be. There's many ways to meet the learning objectives that stretch and challenge the learners as can be seen by the example.

What questions do you have?

I will ask for more examples.

Witness statements / Re: Detail Required in a Witness Statement
« Last post by SamuelMayes on August 21, 2019, 05:26:17 am »
Hi Maria,

There is the generic witness statement template from DSW. Check dropbox.

I would recommend that is followed. The content needs to be sufficient for the learning objective being claimed.

From experience, witness statements can be more work for all involved to meet the learning objective. Reflective statements are the preferred choice.

Same goes for observation forms. Unless the skills coach is observing (as you know what to look for when observing).

Hi Edward,

Assuming they have the same end date.

I can only estimate you are smashing together different targets here.

Screen shot please. Make sure you redact any learner name.
