Gateway Readiness / Re: What is Gateway?

Thanks Sam, that's great and I'm relieved to hear that I've been giving learners the correct guidance.

For those with L4 IOS learners such as myself the link to the assessment plan on the IFATE website is here:

Hi Sam,

Wanted to share that I've experienced some confusion around the process that learners will be following for Gateway.

In the DSW toolkit for L4 Investment Operations Specialist the language is ambiguous and could be seen to imply that Gateway is the period used for evidence gathering and not for selecting the best pieces of evidence from e-track to submit in a portfolio to the EPA. (see page 5 "A portfolio of evidence from real work completed during the End-point Assessment stage" and also Page 6 'what is sufficient?' -> Over a period of time – i.e. throughout the End-point Assessment Period).

This is different to the L6 documentation which states:

"This will be an e-portfolio or other electronic platform. The Portfolio will initially be reviewed at the gateway by the apprentice supported by the employer and Training Provider against the standard. When the employer is satisfied that the apprentice has met or is clearly on track to meet the pass criteria for the Standard, the Portfolio will be sent to the End-Point Assessment Organisation for independent review to inform the Panel Interview."

I have a L4 IOS learner who recently completed IOC asking me about this as when he took IOC the evidence was all compiled during Gateway not before.

I explained that the process is as below - we build a portfolio of evidence together over the 15 months of the programme which satisfy all KSB's and then select the most impactful (likely amassed in the last 3 months due to the nature of the programme and their personal development) to go to the EPA ahead of the discussion. His response was;

"A colleague of mine who is one year into the Scholar programme has recently been through this. So i still believe this is something that needs to be looked into further."

Could you provide some clarification around this - i.e. are Gateway processes different for L4 and L6?

Thanks

Hi Sam,

Another question here - is the PDP used to record learning and development activities that will help fulfil the career aspirations of the learner (for example a promotion) or gaps in the skills scan that need to be filled (as per Tammy's guidance above) or both?

Thanks Mark

Hi Sam,

Do we have any example PDP's available for us to learn from?

Thanks Mark

Thanks very much for this Sam. I've just gone through the setup process and it only takes about 5 minutes and is very straightforward.
